Not only do these undocumented immigrants fight our wars, grow our food, care for our children and elderly, and serve us in a hundred ways every day, but they have also become an integral cog in American economic growth. According to a February 2007 study by New York鈥檚 Center for an Urban Future, immigrants are more likely to be self-employed than non-immigrants, spurring growth in new businesses from food manufacturing to health care. Yes of course. Absolutely. New Orleans would not be as far as it is, which isn't saying much, without guest workers. As long as they don't cause trouble, which they haven't here, I think it's o.k. We have more legal immigrants coming in every year than any other country.
Let's deport all the illegal aliens and THEN talk about a "guest worker" program. We are loaded to the gills, ENOUGH ALREADY. why are we always trying to blast immigration higher?
we already take in as many immigrants as the whole rest of the world combnined! it's insane!
just look at this chart
http://www.numbersusa.com/about/red%20an... Over 65% of illegals take more out of the system than they give back. They will use up far more in tax-payer provided social services than in the amount they pay in taxes. We do not need anymore people on the Government Plantation. You are mixing two very different groups together... Undocumented means illegal immigrants. Immigrants are those who are following our immigration laws.
Statistics on immigration are likely concerning "legal" immigration, its kind of hard to get statistics on undocumented or "illegal" immigrants.
Guest worker programs CAN be advantageous but strict rules should apply for the safety of our citizens.
So that we are clear on the terms we all use.
**IMMIGRANT: In popular usage, an "immigrant" is generally understood to be a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence. Under this definition, therefore, an "immigrant" is an alien admitted to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident. The emphasis in this definition is upon the presumptions that (1) the immigrant followed U.S. laws and procedures in establishing residence in our country; (2) he or she wishes to reside here permanently; and (3) he or she swears allegiance to our country or at least solemnly affirms that he/she will observe and respect our laws and our Constitution.
**ALIEN: By contrast, an "alien" is generally understood to be a foreigner -- a person who comes from a foreign country -- who does not owe allegiance to our country.
**ILLEGAL ALIEN: An "illegal alien" is a foreigner who (1) does not owe allegiance to our country; and (2) who has violated our laws and customs in establishing residence in our country. He or she is therefore a criminal under applicable U.S. laws.
The term "illegal alien" is used by U.S. citizens who believe that non-citizens entering our country must comply with our immigration laws.
The term "illegal alien" is predicated upon U.S. immigration law which requires foreigners entering the U.S. to comply with our country's rules and laws regarding entry into, and residence within, our country.
***UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT: An "undocumented immigrant" is the same as an "illegal alien", and is a criminal under applicable U.S. laws.
Most U.S. citizens do not use the term "undocumented immigrant" and prefer, instead, the more descriptive and accurate term "illegal alien".
The term "undocumented immigrant" is used by those who believe in "open borders", i.e., non-regulation of foreigners entering into and assuming residence in the U.S., including even those foreigners who owe allegiance to a foreign government and/or who may intend harm to the U.S. I could care less about a worker program. lets talk prisoner worker program. A guest worker program is not undocumented immigrants. These are people that have applied for and received a work visa. Guest workers do fill a lot of important needs, but you are confusing guest workers with illegal aliens. Yes, indeed I do. I admire the people who come here...most of them find work quickly, and are hard-working and dependable. Personally, I'd be willing to go down our welfare rolls and swap Mexico ten people for one.
HOWEVER...we should first close the border till it's VERY secure before we worry about guest worker programs. We should build a very secure, solid wall across our entire southern border...then we should institute a guest worker program. (And personally, I'd be willing to let as many Mexicans enter as they want...provided they obey the law when they get here.)
We should also make it a felony to hire anyone here illegally, without the proper documentation...and anyone who comes here illegally or remains here illegally by overstaying a visa should be jailed. (A year for the first offense, five years for the second.) Also, any guest worker who breaks the law should be forcibly removed, and should be required to wait six months before he or she can reapply for guest worker status. 'According to a February 2007 study by New York鈥檚 Center for an Urban Future, immigrants are more likely to be self-employed than non-immigrants'
Your statement says it all right there - and the people born on this soil get treated like ****!
Not saying that I wouldn't welcome a mehican that is not the issue here the issue is society and how we need to change how every one should get a paycheck every month for bills - i.e. food, and shelter mostly and perhaps other essentials like clothing. Regardless if you have worked or not - we have too many problems to deal with like the healthcare of our society which is going to decline regardless of all the cures they start to struggle to find now! We need leverage...
Why hasn't this been done already? Does " illegal " mean anything to you ? I say deport everyone of them if it takes 50 years to do it.. First off, it's 'criminal alien', not 'undocumented worker'. They didn't just misplace their time card.
They knowingly committed a criminal act, disrespected our laws, and should be treated as such.
By using that term, you are trying to bring favor to them.
Should I go to the border and arrest them and call myself an 'undocumented Border Patrol Agent'?
They are criminals.
Illegal aliens murder over 3000 American CITIZENS every year.
Illegal aliens kill over 4000 American Citizens a year in auto accidents where the illegal is at fault.
1/3 of all Federal prisoners are illegal aliens who have committed serious crimes in addition to unlawful entry.
Most are unskilled and illiterate, how does this benefit this country?
Illegal aliens use our hospitals and do not pay at a rate of 90%
Illegal Aliens have brought diseases into this country that OUR modern medical services had once eradicated.
You also use statistics that use legal immigrants to further your agenda while disrespecting those who have followed or laws and came here LEGALLY.
I think we should first let in everyone who has been waiting to come here and is going through the process LEGALLY. Dude, they're not serving us one bit. ILLEGAL ALIENS GO HOME YOU CRIMINAL INVADERS!!! If someone can document having a job and being productive, I don't have a problem. The problem is with those on welfare and other programs just sucking off of us. I am convinced that when immigrant babies are born, they come out with a medicaid application in one hand. Those on welfare can hardly be called productive. I guess if keeping the printing presses going printing medicaid card and food stamps is considered being productive, they do serve a purpose. 鈥淚n the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person鈥檚 becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn鈥檛 an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.鈥?br>

+ GUEST WORKER PROGRAM=MODERN SLAVERY ! I am a foreign national who came here, to the US, legally and am studying in a tertiary level institution. I know personally the hoops that foreigners have to jump through just to get a visa to come to the US of A. I come from a country which has a minimum wage, a minimum wage of approximately US $1.12陆 per hour. So many other countries do not have an enforced minimum wage or a minimum wage which is so low, it isn't funny.
When you consider the need for Internet access (and its associated costs), the need for pictures, the actual cost of application for a US visa, the possibility of denial at the US Consulate (application fee is non-refundable), and then the possibility of denial of entry even with valid travel documents (including a visa) at the airport, seaport, or border crossing... I'm NOT angry with other foreigners who enter illegally. I actually symphatize with them. I don't think illegals are justified, but I do understand their plight.
As for a guest worker program and/or any program to legalize those who either entered the US illegally or overstayed their I-94 (arrival/departure record) time limit... I support any such program. Here's my added suggestion...
Shut the borders down - yes! Build a fence, hire more border patrol agents, buy more patrol vehicles, install more electronic surveillance, whatever. BUT - at the same time, make the process of applying for visas (of all categories) cheap and easy. Not cheap by American standards, cheap by the standards of the poor person who can barely support his family in his home country. Easy - provide free Internet access to foreigners at US Embassies and Consulates (perhaps in kiosks on the perimeter of the properties or off-site) to be able to start the application process. Keep the background checks tight (or make them tighter).
People who come here illegally don't want to risk life and limb to enter the US, then be forced to live under the radar (except the minute percent who are criminals on the run). They want to make a better life for themselves and their families. Make it cheaper and easier to enter the US legally (for those with clean criminal records and no terrorist inclinations) while simultaneously shutting down the holes in the border crossings. Then, do something to progressively legalize those illegals already here. Tracking down, capturing, processing, and deporting an estimated 12 million illegal aliens is going to cost the US Government an enormous amount of technology, manpower, and money. Legalize them and have them pay fines for their breaking immigration law. Collecting those fines and future taxes and Social Security contributions would be better for the country's economy than paying to punish them. IMHO.
God bless America.
><> YES, it is a good idea. First it is imperative that we solve this illegal-immigration problem. I have been around illegal-Mexicans and I know how they truly are. They have no respect for this country, our laws, or our culture. They show almost no respect for woman and treat them sub-human. I have seen and stood up to a Mexican beating on one of our woman. Not to mention how many rapes they commit along with other crimes. We had gotten by without them before and we can do it again. Americans just need to start reproducing more and then we will have a greater workforce to feed the demand. That would take time but it'd be worth it. Whites in particular reproduce very low, and we need to start having more kids.
Overall I say no. Our ancestors flourished without them and we can too. Do not play host to invaders. |
