What should we have done, and is there anything we should do now?

We called a limo service and were supposed to be picked up at 4 a.m. At 4:12, I called because the driver was not at our location, and had gone to the next town, although the service did have our correct address. We had to use the service when the limo finally arrived, the limo driver went through a red light and sped to get us to the airport(My husband told me about the light once we got to the airport) , and we were late to check in so had to fly stand-by two hours later.

We paid for the service, did not give the driver a tip, and no words were exchanged between us, the service, and the driver-I knew I would not choose the right words when I was so disappointed and upset.

Do I call them, report them to the Better Business Bureau, write a letter, what?

I would call and talk to a manager/owner first. Be clear on what your problem was and what you expect from them in return (partial or full refund, etc). Depending on their response will determine if you need to write a letter or report them to the BBB.

If they're not receptive to your request, I would write a letter to the company and include the fact that you talked to someone (make sure to include the persons name, date/time you spoke to them) and reiterate your request and complaint.

If you do not hear anything within a week of sending the letter I would follow-up with another phone call and at that time tell them that you will be reporting them to the BBB based on their lack of cooperation. Then - report them to the BBB.

Good luck!

I think you call and complain for sure!! I do think you should keep the red light thing to yourself - I think maybe the driver was just trying to get you there on time. the company should have GPS systems for their drivers. If I have one for personal use - why can't they if it's their business!
your whole flight experience was ruined. do something about it for sure!

Yes, call them and speak with the Manager. Explain what happen and get a refund. That kind of service not acceptable. If they don't give you a refund, call their corporate office. You shouldn't of missed your flight because the driver was late.

Call the limo service, and speak to the owner or manager. The driver put you and your husband at serious risk! Try to get your money back.

report it.

thats not right.

they have a job and should do it right

good luck x

Honestly, the Better Business Bureau is a joke and most businesses know it. Legally, they have the authority to do nothing. You never stated how long exactly the company was late picking you up. I am assuming one hour. If that is the case you are entitled legally not to pay for the hour they where late. You can always call and ask for a refund if you over payed or handle the matter in small claims court. In the future have written into the contract you sign with the rental company specific monetary damages for drivers arriving late or violating the law. I hope you had a contract not a verbal agreement. The limo company is not legally responsible for the fact you had to fly stand by. You could have made arrangements to drive yourself or called a cab. Plan better in the future. ALWAYS GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING UP FRONT. Most likely you will have to consider this a hard lesson learned.
