Resume cover letter to a friend? |
A college friend of mine is in charge of interviewing/hiring at a company that I want to apply to. I haven't talked to him in almost a year. (He graduated, got married, etc.) We were good friends in college and hung out almost every weekend. I just need some suggestions on how to approach a cover letter addressed to him. I don't want it to be too impersonal as it may appear unprofessional to others who may see it. On the other hand, I don't want it to be too "business-ey" and disregard the fact that we were friends/look stupid. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Honestly, without knowing who else may see it, I'd opt for completely business. Even a hint of friendly history may be construed as a request for favoritism, should the wrong person see the cover letter, such as an assistant who wants his job. Protect him, by being all-business, then either call him or send him a personal note separately. |
