Address bar won't double as search bar, why?

On my laptop, I can simply type whatever I want in the address bar(where you type www....com), and it'll pull up my default engine with the word already searched for me. Yay, that's easy. BUT, this new desktop I bought won't do that. It's brand new, with no extra junk but what eMachines has installed on it. I type something in the address bar just like I have known to do, but this time it doesn't search, it has some junk comming up with eMachines name all over it. Kind of like those fake search engines with porn or businesses all over it. I called eMachines and they said that this is an Internet Explorer problem. I told them that I made my default engine google, but eMachines is hogging up the program because I chose to not have eMachines as my default search engine.

Basically, my address bar on the new computer isn't doing what it should on the older computer. Everything is updated through microsoft, so everything SHOULD be the same. BUT, it isn't.

What can I do about this problem? Is there some way I can delete eMachine's stuff, I asked them and they said no, I don't believe so.

possibly just need to reformat with regular old XP or vista those manufactuers add all sorts of crap but you might want to take a look at tool internet options somewhere in there you can put google and crap like that if you havent already checkd. Good luck
