If another person has a DBA - can I register the URL? |
In Texas, does a person owning the county DBA to a business name automatically have the right to own the URL/Website address associated with the name? I.e. lets assume I own a hair salon called "Busy Bee Hair Salon" and my competitor owns the Dallas County DBA to Dallas Hair Salon or even DallasHairSalon.com... However, I own the registration to dallashairsalon.com because they failed to register their URL. Assuming I don't imply that my name is Dallas Hair Salon (i.e. I am clear that my business name is "Busy Bee") -- I own the rights to the URL fair and square - correct? They cant make me relinquish the URL, right? Whoever owns the domain name (pays for the registration) owns the URL. They can BUY the name from you - people do this all the time to make money. You cannot be FORCED to give it up. |
