How should I send my resume to an employer? |
I'm graduating in May of 2008 and I am starting to look for a teaching position. I've never mailed out resumes before, so this might seem like a dumb question...BUT - should I send my resume in a business envelope that has the address PRINTED on it or should I HANDWRITE the address on it? I'm not really sure what looks more professional - what did you do? I'm not sure it matters much, but something printed looks more professional. Send it in, then wait a week or so and send a letter mentioning the resume and reiterating your interest in the job. Few people do that, so you'll be etched in their minds and they'll give you more consideration. Good luck. If you can, send it on line to them, my friend in Calif did that on every job she got but she also was a little bit creative to and send out to many of job offers You can make it into a PDF and keep the original in MS Word, cuz they're always asking for both. Then when you've got that, send one of them via email and then sent a letter, with a cover letter of course, and type the address on the envelope with attention to the hiring agent. And on the cover letter try to keep it personal, but business-like, and address it contents as "Dear" with the complete name of the hiring agent including the Mr. Mrs., etc. from my experience you can do either but if your handwriting is a bit messy, then be sure to use a printed version. Also dont forget to include a cover letter in with your cv |
