Can BSNL type-1 modem UT300R2U (utstarcom) can be used with other ISPs like Airtel?

I want to know if this modem is worth purchasing from BSNL or I shall take it as rented option? I am living at Vasco Goa. I may not be using the BSNL internet for long (not more than six months may be) and may move to some other metro city as required by my business. In other cities, BSNL won't give me the connection in lack of address proof, and hence I will have to go for private ISPs like Airtel who give a connection relatively easily (I have done that before).

Or please suggest me a modem available in market which works with BSNL ADSL broadband in place of its type-1 UT300R2U (utstarcom) modem?

If the modem is not locked Device then any net u can use.

you can use the current modem that you have but if you insist on goin in for a changes then purchase a d-link adsl 502+ .. . . remember the 502+ , not the 502 ... . its a good bragain for money and very effective , specifications in the link below , cost arou 1200-1400 , pay nothing more

boss you can use any modem with any of the ISP's available in India.! but make sure the connector cables are same when you switch between the ISP's that you are planning to switch between..try out data cards they are also very good options if you are not planning to use heavy duty internet..!
