Need more help about Bally Contract Cancellation?

"Cancellation Rights:a) Consumer Right to Cancellation. You May cancel this Contract without any penalty or further obligation within 3 days from this date. b) this one says that you have to have some sort of excuse."

I signed up today April 14 Can I still cancel. Please help me on this. They screwed me over 2200

Update: It says this after the above and was wondering what should I do:
"The cancellation period referenced in the preceding sentence expires at the end of three business days after the date of receipt by you or the written contract, which is the "date of contract" appearing at your signature. Notice of cancellation shall be written signed by the buyer and mailed to us( address enclosed). ATTN: CANCELLATION THe Club must refund all your money and return the original financing papers, if any within15 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER RECEIPT OF CANCELLATION NOTICE.

Ok. So I live in New York and the place where I have to mail the stuff to is in California. How am i going to mail in time

The cancellation, if required to be by mail, is effective as of the date it is mailed.

Write the written cancellation request, as described in the contract, and send it to them registered mail, proof of delivery requested. That way you have formal proof of when you sent it, and when they got it.

They did the same thing to me several years ago.

Send them a "Drop Dead" letter, and be very aggressive.

Make it clear that you will sue them for x, y, and z if they do not cease all attempts at collection....also make it clear to them that you will be contacting all of the local news media sources about the scam that they are perpetrating on you.

It's called failure of disclosure and it's a total scam. The "salesman" who got you to sign those contracts never told you about a financial obligation whatsoever (I'm not guessing, I know, because it happened to me too;)

Although they may have you in the corner legally, they will not want to pay expenses to go to court for $2,200, especially if you're counter-suing. Play hard ball and I doubt they'll call your bluff.

Your cancellation should be effective on the date it is mailed. However, if you want to be extra cautious, I would send an additional copy of your cancellation letter by FedEx, DHL or USPS Express Mail. This way, you have complied by sending it via "mail", and you will have also given them notice by other means before April 17 so they can't claim they were prejudiced or that the notice was untimely. At least if you have to sue them, you will be in a much stronger position to argue that you did everything in your power to comply with their unconscionably short cancellation period.
