HELP!!!! With information on resume please advise?

This is a situation that I do not know how to address...
I am receiving unemployment benefits right now, and seeking full time employment. A family friend has a newly registered business that he is opening and I have always volunteered to assist him with with letters / invoices and so forth only part time if that. He does not pay, nor will I accept because the work is not much and does not take up much time if any. Our agreement was that If i decided to take any continuing education classes the company would pay for them, which I have scheduled next month. My question is since I receive unemployment benefits does it look unprofessional or seem odd that I put this information on my resume when seeking employment and notate that it is volunteer work part time. Any company would be able to verify the information through this contractor (company) How should I handle....Another reason of importance for me is because I want to keep myself busy while seeking employment in the meantime .

i don't know if i am missing something, but i don't see any reason why you can't put it on your resume, just note that it is volunteer work

volunteer work is fine on a resume. No need to mention to anyone about how your classes are being paid.
