I Think I'm In Trouble?

Ok so on monday a (supposed) Sprint Represenative called me offering me a phone with a 2 yr contract and I accepted it. He broke down the monthly bill, the contract agreements, and the actual plan that it would be which was $39.99 a month.

Well the guy switched me to his manager and he asked me for my address, telephone number, and my social. I gave him all three. He said a shipper would be calling me 30 minutes later to confirm the order, but I never asked him what it meant if the shipper didn't call.

Low and behold the shipper didn't call and I dont know if I'm getting a phone or not.

They said the phone would be here in 3-5 business days and so far nothing, but who knows.

The first man (and probably the second) were Indian from India which I know for a fact is who Sprint deals with for their over the phone customer service.

Have I been scammed??

Call Sprint and see if they have a record of your order. If so, you are fine. If not, call your credit card company immediately!

Yes. There is no reason that a phone company would need your Social Security Number. Never, ever, ever give out your SSN, especially over the phone. Only an employer would need your SSN.

You need to take quick steps to protect your identity. Also call Sprint and let them know this scam is being perpetrated in their name.

Oh dear you may have been scammed... did you give them your bank details? It might be a good idea to phone up your bank and make sure no money has been taken out of your account - you may even have to cancel any cards and freeze your account for a while! Goodness me, you could even have your identity stolen... I don't know, maybe you have to go to the police about this? You could end up in serious problems!

I'm sure you've learnt from this though... don't go handing out infomation to people!

Is there a number on the caller ID? Call it and see who answers. If it's Sprint, then explain the situation. If not, I would put a freeze on your credit cards and at the 3 credit bureaus. Never give out your SS # u
