@yahoo.com email addresses?

What will happen to all of the @yahoo.com email addresses if Microsoft buys Yahoo?

Will I lose all my email?

This is really a concern for me as I have been using @yahoo.com email for many years now storing all my old personal and business emails.

I see two realistic possibilities:

1. The new company keeps the Yahoo name and continues to offer new yahoo.com e-mail addresses into the future.

2. They change the e-mail name, and grandfather the existing yahoo.com addresses, but will not offer new yahoo.com addresses.

This is my speculation. I saw #2 happen when Prodigy.net was purchased. I wouldn't be too concerned about losing your yahoo.com e-mail address.

I don't think anything will happen. My mom has an @bellsouth.net email address but AT&T bought Bellsouth a few months ago.

nahh. i dont think they could do that to everyone. recreating all those email accounts. idk what they will do :O

Usually when this happens the email address doesn't change. When earthlink bought mindspring years ago you had the choice to keep your email address ending in mindspring or change it to earthlink. If they would change it there should be a transition period where your emails could be forwarded and time to let everyone know of the change.
