IS THIS A EBAY/PAYPAL SCAM? Selling Laptop On Ebay - Please Read!!?

I recently bought a laptop on craigslist that I listed on eBay, I got a good deal on the laptop and figured I could profit a little.

So I listed the item, and I noticed a guy bidding on it alot, but at the last minute got outbid by some Nigerian guy and they had to cancel the auction.

So I relisted the item, and the same guy was bidding on it again, and then he sent me a message through the ebay message system asking if he could buy it now for $550. I said sure, I told him my paypal account email, he sent the payment, it cleard into my paypal but now I am waiting for it to clear into my bank account, which could take 3-4 business days.

If its in my paypal account, I am in the clear right? Or should I wait to ship it until it clears into my checking account?

I looked into the guys address, nothing pulls up on ebay except something about professional santas. lol

I looked at his ebay feedback and he has 100% positive with over 1000 feedbacks. What do you guys think??

Once it is in your paypal account it is already yours, and you got nothing to worry about, I think that the other guy has more to worry about it than you. I recommend you to get a Debit card from paypal, and form there you wont have to transfer the funds to your bank account it is an easier way to have access to your money.

You should be fine. If it cleared Paypal, it should be okay. I ship items once the money is in my Paypal account. The time it takes to go to your bank account is just processing time.

If it would make you feel better, go to e-bays home page and click on the "live help" icon and ask them.

Just make sure you don't tell them you ended the sale early, as this is against e-bay's rules!

You are fine, once the money has been cleared and put into your paypal account that means paypal has verified funds from his account and they are good.

If it's in your PayPal account it's in your possession. PayPal don't clear anything into your PayPal account until they have the money to put there in my experience.

One of my customers once made an order from me with funds that PayPal waited on clearance before forwarding to my PayPal account, and although I took the risk of forwarding the goods prior to clearance there were no problems.

So I think that if there was a problem, PayPal would be waiting on clearance before crediting your PayPal account. However, feel free to check with PayPal. They're pretty quick on the email enquiries and have a number of offices around the world.

If you are worried about the impact of certain economic problems in the States, I don't think another three working days will change your shipping times by any great proportion in these days of anti-terrorism hysteria - and it is standard business practice to await funds clearance prior to shipping when transacting amounts whose loss would be unacceptable...

The choice is yours - good luck...
