is it necessary to have a website when starting your photography business??? Im just starting out and have printed my business cards with no website. Should i get a website up so my next batch of business cards can have the web address on it?? Dotphoto.com allows you to set up an on store line and you can create your own web site there for free as well as set your own prices. They do the printing and shipping. It's a great way to start and have a site if you're a beginner and feel you need one. it would be better to do that firstre cards , not vital to have a web site but advisable Having a website is almost a requirement these days. It really gets your images out there. A website is the best investment you can make. It also is your cheapest advertisement. If you can' afford for someone to build it for you there are many sites now which make it very easy for you to do it yourself. Photoshop has templates which are very easy and give you a quick web presents. In this day and age, having a website is important. I say this as a general consumer. I want to research certain types of businesses...and photographers fall into that category. I want to know what I can expect from the business. In addition, when I go looking for services (such as photography), I use the Internet to search the local area for options. So you are the most likely to get my business if you 1) Show up on the Yellow Pages web sites and 2) Have a personal website that gives me more information than contact details. Tell me what services you offer. What are your primary types of photo shoots (studio, weddings, other)? I'd say at the vary least you should have a place to display samples of your photography online - even if it's not your personal web address. Personally I use http://www.pbase.com but you might also consider Flickr, or Smugmug, or the like. Recently I had a look at the photo hosting at http://jalbum.net and they have some pretty professional looking templates available and reasonably priced storage. No it isn't. a website is a good tool but just a web site will not get you work you need to market your self on other ways aswel. |
