I owe Toyota for this month's payment & they are calling my place of business 10+ x/day. If this legal?

I work at a corporation in a high capacity but even so everyone is getting tired of running to find me only to have Toyota hang up before they can reach me. Sometimes Toyota hangs up when someone answers. If they are told that I'm out of the office for the day they still call 8 more times and claim that it's automated and they have no control. I plan to pay them but won't get paid til the end of the month. The corp is wasting too much time each day on answering Toyota's multiple calls. I understand that FCC regulations 15USC1692c says they can't call me at work. Do I have to send Toyota written notice or can the communications manager (head of the switchboard) tell them to cease & desist with all further calls? And who do I write if they ignore him? Tonight they called the janitor 5 times between 8:30 pm and 9pm and even HE is ticked b/c he can't get his work done. What to do? Do I report this to the FCC? Address? Makes me want to give the truck back and say "Keep it biatches"

It's perfectly legal, I'm afraid.

15USC 1692(c) which you quoted, is part of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which one of the other answerers referenced.

Unfortunately for you, it applies ONLY to third party debt collectors, NOT to the original creditor.

Toyota Credit is your original creditor. They can call you at work as much as they want.

--Chevy truck line up is outperformed by Toyota, (resale on chevy is awful too)
--Motortrend Truck of the year: Toyota Tundra
--Toyota Tundra is built here in the USA.. Chevy's is built mostly in Mexico and Canada.. So much for the American revolution.. Report It

It is illegal for them to call your place of bussines.

You need to get to the phone at least once to tell them to never to contact you at work again. After you do that they can not legally call you there again otherwise they will be violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

Pay the bill, you dead beat.

Joe has it nailed.

Pay the bill.

Amazing how being responsible changes your life.
