Anonymous Internet Surfing... Free Programs like Annomizer?

Hello,

I am looking for free programs that keep my IP Address Private.

I have looked at a couple in the past but they were confusing and I never succeeded in installing them and getting them to work.

Now that my father has a laptop that will be connecting wirelessly I am worried about people tracking him and want to get him something to protect his surfing.

We will not be doing anything Illegal but I want my privacy protected. It is no one's business what we do...

PLEASE provide info like I am 5 years old...

When you use a wireless connection..theres a connection called WEP...its a very secured line..meaning no one can actually get on your pc...& if they try to....you will get warned about it....they can't access it as easily...but you will be at least alerted about it....We have RCN right now...but check into your area...all the firewalls in the world can't keep out a "True" hacker....there are things called back doors, inter-back doors...pop-unders...all sorts of things....( I'm sure I'll get it for telling you..but I'm just trying to help) but don't worry to much! I hear ya on the privacy things ...Try this site...and go to where it says...change IP...the second one in....and just go by the instructions....
You might find this site kinda fun...it has all sorts of things on it...LOL....Let me know...

PS: When you enter the site..it WILL tell you your IP...that is what the site is ALL about.....

not having virusses and worms on your dad's computer is a great step of enhancing his privacy...

TOR is a good program. if you don't want to install it properly, you might want to look into XeroBank. a standalone anonymizer capable of working with tor net, without the tedious installation... the demo is free...

no such thing as annoymous surfing, the govt requires all internet service providers to track all their customers and provide (on demand) history of sites visited, from what ip address on which phone line. its to catch criminals (they say) but is being used to oversee social habits, norms and used as a social engineering tracker. 100% true
