What is a good going-away gift for someone moving to Vietnam?

A friend is moving to Vietnam for business for a short-time. His wife and college-aged daughter are going along and they'll be there less than a year. They are technology savvy, and already have electronic address books. Can you help us think of a perfect going-away gift?
Thanks!!!!

You can get anything and every thing in Viet Nam (I have been living and working in Viet Nam for 4 years now).

There is a book: Culture Shock - Vietnam

That would be a worthwhile gift!

Get them a book about Vietnam, something with local maps, a guide to restaurants, things to do, etc. They will appreciate it!

A gift basket of some American food goodies such as a bottle of syrup, chili mix things that they cannot get there as well as the new fanny farmer cook book.
Trust me as an American expat living in Romania the little food items like syrup, BBQ sauce are the things we miss the most. I would see what they like and use it for their basket. DH and I love syrup and cannot get it here, plus as a non cooker we arrived and almost starved because I did not know how to cook from scratch. You'd be surprised how much we take for granted when cooking in America.

i went to vietnam before and ALL of my relatives and even pets came to say bye to my family very welcoming and some of them gave me some money so i can buy stuff and some of my relatives went with me to the airport too..and of course i missed them ALOT..=( ,but wells its already made i did have fun though>.<

i would reccomend a nice map (current) of vietnam so they can decided where to eat....

p.s. the water for drinking is bad make sure they only drink a little bit of viet water...and don't speak too much english..watch out for motorcycles, don't listen to strangers(teachers and friends of your parents ok) i had an experience where 2 kids try to lure me out cause i was like only 9 or 10... and i just stuck out my tounge at them..don't go to drinking clubs/friends house unless you know them VERY Well (not including drinking clubs) very bad; some guy (stupidly)decided to drink at viet and had s** (ex) with a girl and ended up losing his money she stole it darn good its not my family just some guy on the news......

so get him maps local resturants, maybe 5 star hotels i love the beach its awesome ,but it depends where hes gonna live.....oh and he should rent taxi or big cars my dad rents big HUGE cars with driver ,tv and long seats for the family it was awesome.....
