Identity Theft? I received an e-mail today - an advert for cheap drugs - and the sender's address was my own?

Has my account been taken over by a hacker? What can I do to ensure my address - a Yahoo business address - is not being used to send spam across the globe?

The Internet is set up so I can put anything in the "From" line that I want. Doing so practically guarnatees that your spam filter won't block it so that's why it happens. It's nothing sinister, just annoying.

Besides, scumbags don't use online accounts to send Spam, it much easier and more effective to hack people's personal account on their home computers to do that.

Anyone can send an email with any address on the "From" line. This spammer might send thousands of emails with each one addressed "from" the recipient.

on holloween i send family & friends an email with NO address,NO subject line and NO return address,rofl.everybody thinks they've been hacked even though i've been doing it to them for years,rofl !!
