What's the weather like on the West Coast (Part II)? |
About two weeks ago, I asked a question regarding the weather on the West Coast and voiced a few of my opinions, addressing future extreme weather. In support of my hypothesis, I found a story on Yahoo! News talking of such. One was killed, and four others were stranded due to avalanches. Nearly 11,000 homes and businesses throughout Southern California were without electricity, including about 6,700 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers. Southern California rainfall totals from Monday afternoon through 4 p.m. Friday included 9.43 inches at Opids Camp in the San Gabriel Mountains above Pasadena and 8.15 inches at Gibraltar Dam in Santa Barbara County. So I will ask again, has the weather not worsened? Will it continue to do so? It's beautiful man !? So a single weather phenomena proves you're right....how exactly.... God be with you what do you want? more death to make you happy? I can't speak for California, but here in western Washington state, we've had a fairly cold winter. The ski resorts here are sitting on literally about 50% more snow than usual, and there are concerns about what's going to happen this spring when the melt begins. However, I'm not a believer that the weather in a single year is an indicator of much of anything; I'm much more interested in the trend over the last 150 years or so, and that does indeed concern me. You have included no data to prove that the information you have provided has never happened before. Also, you are attempting to compare your past experiences against that of world history. To list a group of figures that seem high is distorting the truth. If you can prove that historical (100 years +)rainfall totals for that given day are high, you MAY have a point. There have been rain a washout problems in Cali for YEARS. It has less to do with worsening weather and more to do with cities expanding into areas where these problems occur. My friend, a question to answer a question. What was the weather like a thousand years ago when Greenland was Green and Iceland wasn't covered in Ice. Weather patterns come and go as the Axis of the world turn. You look at the weather patterns of the last century and you will find that most of the earliest data is tainted and since the fall of the Communist Russia are we only able to get real weather data from that area of earth. |
