A check cashing business gave a strange woman my home address for her to try to retrive a lost item.? |
I went to a check cashing place to pay my water bill. Someone handed me an item that was on the floor and I took it. Later a stranger woman came to my house harassing my child that she wants her item back or she'll come back with police. You have done all that you can do. Use this incident as a reminder that when you find something in a public place it should be left at that public place. When someone looses something they will return to the public place and expect to find their item there. If you walk away with something, it is easy for any witness to point you out as the person who has the item. Your license number could be taken. As you saw right or wrong your address could be divulged. There is no law of finders keepers. If the item had been stolen by the first party you could be guilty of receiving stolen goods. Keep your hands in your pockets and do not pick up "lost" items. It all boils down to were you injured? Yes, they were wrong, but you have not "suffered" so you do not have a lawsuit. What was the item? Was it something expensive like a phone or valuable like jewelry? Just give the item back. Its not yours!! And if it was something that you lost you would want it back. I mean come one, if she would come back and harm your child how would you feel then. Pretty Stupid huh |
