If someoene has a doctorate in business administration, do you address them as Dr.A Jones or A Jones Ph.D? In a letter, either way. In person as Dr. Jones if we haven't met. If we have met and care to do so, by first name. If you're writing to him, I believe either is appropriate. However, it would sound pretty strange if you verbally addressed him as A. Jones Ph.D. I think then Dr. is appropriate. Although, you might want to check on the appropriate degree. I think Ph.D is a doctor of philosophy, but I'm not sure. Either form is correct. (That is, both are.) Some colleges give a PhD in business, and others call it Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.). They're much the same. The link below describes both kinds. |
