Our problem is we dont the address on this guy who supposed to our roof? |
Its me again asking your help.. regarding this guy who supposed to do our roof..he said, he do roofing around Burlington and Davenport IA..for 30 years.. so we trust him ... wihtout realizing the duplicate contract that he gave us has no business address.. just his business name and phone number but i notice it two weeks later after he already in cash our check..i told my husband dont worry about it he seems very nice guy in his 60's.. that remind us same age our grandpa..if we contact the lawyer ?how they can find him that we dont know his address, only his business add and phone number in the yellow phone book? and duplicate contract we have? I've search in the internet using reverse phone look up.. the result is unavailable..I'm confuse.. we need a lot of suggestion about this matter.. appriciate any suggestion..thanks a lot .. If you were scammed, contact the District Attorney in your county and file theft charges. Investigators will be able to track the man with his phone number. You have been scammed, phone the police, and smarten up next time. The police and your lawyer will be able to find him from the yellow pages ad and the phone number, don't be concerned about that. File your complaints. Call ZOning and permits in your county; if he's legit, they can help you locate his business. First, you mentioned this guy had a company name. Every company legally doing business in the state of Iowa has to be registered with the Iowa Secretary of State. Go to the Secretary of State website at: http://www.sos.state.ia.us (click on search databases - Iowa corporations), and search for this guy's company on their database. If it is a legitimate business, the database will give you an address (hopefully a valid one). If the business does not appear in this database, it is very likely you were scammed. You should also go to your county clerk's office or city clerk's office and find out if he is registered there(they may or may not require contractors to register -- this differs by county/municipality) . Check with the local building and roofing supply places in town, UBC, LOWES,HOME DEPOT ETC. that is probably where he gets supplies and they should know how to find him or where he is working if they have delivered to him recently. Okay you might be up the creek. If he registered his business name (which if he is a scammer he probably didn't) you can get his registered office at the companies branch for a few dollars. |
