How do I get my own web address ?

I have a business idea that requires a website. I don't want to go through Freewebs.com or other free website providers. I need my own business address (www.myname.com) for example. Is there a way to do this that is also free ? and if so can someone offer some advice as to building a webpage and then getting it on the net. Thanks to all those who answer !

Ditto both the above. Also if you want your own domain name it will cost you about 拢6 for 2 years to register a dot co dot uk domain and about 拢8 per year for registration of a dot com name. To help you decide on a domain name make it meaning full or totally obscure such as Yahoo or Google. The shorter the better and think about how people will hear it. Such as booksforyou could be books4you or books4u etc. Can be confusing over the telephone. Good luck

No you can't do it for free. Not unless you want the host's advertising plastered all over your "site". Go to someone like http://www.1and1.co.uk which have basic hosting packages for a reasonable cost and offer web building software for no extra.

another good site is www.cjb.net

its one of the best free ones out there!

GoDaddy.com this is were u can get Ur own business address

I use www.servage.net and they are superb. They have a sitebuilder (PC only) and are super helpful. Questions answered in minutes which is staggering. Also very, very stable, very flexible in terms of programing languages you can use etc. etc.

I would highly recommend them. They're not the cheapest out there but you do get what you pay for with hosting companies at the moment.

If you'd like a bit more advice you can go to my profile and email me.

Good luck.

you can get your own web address by registration in web
service provides where they find first your domain name
then spcae your requires

Thanks for making me laugh with this question this morning.

First off You say you have a business and want a website but you want it for free.

You will have to pay for a domain name which at godaddy is under 10 dollars and you will have to pay for a web hosting package as well from someone. I have an affiliate link to a great one on my website located at http://www.lakeareawebs.com/links.html

If you want to accept credit cards or sell things on the web you will also need an SSL certificate and a merchant account as well.

Then you will need to design and develop your website yourself or pay someone to do it for you. If you decide to do it yourself you will need to spend countless hours learning and practicing XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, PHP for starters. That does not take into account you may not be very good at the initial layout either.

There are too many people out there that under estimate the knowledge and skill level needed to be a professional web designer. Those same people would not think twice about bringing their car to an auto mechanic to be repaired and pay 65+ dollars an hour plus parts for him to fix it but they would not consider paying that to have their website built. In fact the web designer needs far more education then the auto mechanic.

You have a business that you want to advertise and promote which is a business expense. A web site will do both of those things for you if created professionally.

So basically having a website professionally designed and developed for you is free as your business will pay for it and write it off as a business expense.

I too have just started out in the past year designing my own web site. I am using yahoo small business for a very small price. Check it out. You can get a domain name of your own, you can start out small and upgrade as you feel you need to. Yahoo aslo has web building tools that you can use and I have to admitt for a first timer working with making my own web site, I don't think I did bad at all using page builder. However now as I have worked with making changes as I learn I am actually rebuilding my site off line using yahoo sitebuilder and I am looking forward to the final outcome of publishing it when I get it done.
