Are they legally allowed to use my home address without my permission? |
I was part of a small company and I set up a joint business bank account in the UK and registered my home address as the address as the business on the bank account. I have since left the company and have requested that they remove my address as the companys address from the bank account. They have refused, and I am still getting all their mail form the bank. I do not want their mail. I dont want anything to do with them. I have refused them permission to use my home address for the address of the company, asked them repeatedly to remove my address, but they are ignoring me. Are they legally allowed to use my home address for the bank account? Can I take them to court? What can I do from a legal point of view? When mail arrives at your home addressed to someone other than a resident of your home, simply write on the outside of the envelope: "RETURN TO SENDER --- NOT AT THIS ADDRESS". You perpetuate the prblem by continuing to accept their mail. Unfortunately, it sounds like you are still considered a part of the joint account. If you were to remove yourself from the bank account entirely, they could not legally keep your records on file. However, once you remove yourself, you won't have the access to the account to verify if they have in fact, removed you completely. The other option is to ask the business owner to open another account in the business name only. |
