I want to find someones address for Small Claims Proceedings but only have their website.?

Can anyone help please?
I have been ripped off by a website company. I paid for a website but didn't get anything. The police don't generally look into these matters (despite it being a fraud). Anyway, i'm looking at taking the seller (from Ebay) through the Small Claims Court procedure. Their details from Ebay are scarce & i have only been able to find them registered to an address in the 2003 electoral register. I have their e-mail address and sent several emails to that business but received no reply.
The website business is not registered with Companies House & checks with Whois.co.uk show the website registered to an individual registrant with no name or details listed.
Is there any other way i can obtain a physical address for this website business?

Every website has to be registered with name, contact info.. email, address, etc. This information can be found on Directnic Whois... here's the link: http://www.directnic.com/whois/

Simply enter the email address, and hit WHOIS.

If they have their settings to Private you will not be able to see much info; but otherwise, should work. Good luck... also, you could do a chargeback if you purchased with a card.

This is kind of cheating, but do they accept payments by cheque?? And are they still trading?? If so, I would get a friend to buy something and say they are paying by cheque - this would mean they would have to have the adddress!

Then I will be able to tell you who is theirs Internet service provider and you might write to them. Usually ISP's (Internet Service Providers) are quite keen to help with any troubles at all with them. If it doesn't help there are more ways which I can tell you via mail.

getting details like that is easy, however domain providers can provide a service to keep those details private.

If you do a WHOIS search you should find out details. Do a domain search. It will say "We're sorry, but the domain name you requested is unavailable at this time." Look underneath for "View WHOIS (See who owns this domain)" and that should give you the details. The same process can be done on GoDaddy and may give you better results.

Trace the money . . . how did you pay? If by credit card, your credit card company can help you. If by check, your bank can help you.

Take ebay to the small claims court.
They should make proper checks on these businesses.
