To whom do I report an online business which took my money without providing the product?

A few weeks ago, I purchased an account with a website offering online French tutoring. I had noticed the ads on several reputable websites and decided to try it. Their demo program version worked fine, but was limited. I purchased the full version of the program online. I received an automatic email receipt from the company, but they have neither allowed me online access or sent a copy of the program. I checked with my bank and the amount was deducted from my account. I contacted the support email of the company, and within minutes I received an automatic notice that their email address does not exist. The phone number they have listed for support is a disconnected number. I checked the physical address they list, and that address is actually an entirely different business who has never heard of them. I am having my bank investigate. To whom should I report this company as bogus, since they are still advertising on several high profile websites?

The FBI is really interested in credit card fraud..contact your local office.

i wished i knew

i would find the number of the better business bureau and contact them. They are the only ones that can really do anything about it, since local or state authorities won't really put their time or effort into it. The bank might not turn anything up either due to limited resources.

I would report it to the better business bureau.

It wouldn't hurt any to report them to BBB, but I agree with the person who mentioned the FBI. The BBB handles complaints, but the FBI will investigate the fraud and crime. After all, they not only took your money, if you paid online they have your personal bank information as well.
