Can i find out if a person using Yahoo email is trying to scam me? Can i get a profile? address?

I have been contacted by someone using a yahoo email address that I think is using suspicious business practices. can I get a profile from their email address? the person is wanting to buy a Jack Russell puppy from me, send me a large sum of money, then have me send an amount in excess of the price to their to their "shipping agent", who will have the puppy picked up later on the next day. my puppy ad was place in a local newspaper that places the ads on the internet. this person first contacted me through a text-to-voice enterpreter, such as a deaf person would use. the interpreter said her contact via text was from a person using the internet and that she was only a service. i gave her my email address, she sent it to him, then all contacts to me have been from a person using a Yahoo email address. Can you help me?

This is a scam. Do Not, I repeat DO NOT cash or deposit the check, money order, etc.
If you get a Postal money order, take it to your post office master,
they can tell you whether it is real or not. I received 2, each in the amount of $990.00. I was only asking $375.00 for my pups.
These money orders look real even down to the security strip and water seals. The only thing is the numbers on the bottom of the orders is one number short. ( ex; they should have 10 , these orders will have 9).
Watch for cashier's check from a bank in Marion , ILL. These are stolen from the bank by an ex employee. When in doubt in cashier's check locate the bank's number and call the bank to verify.
I would recommend keeping or printing these e-mails, in case you need them in the future.
There is a web site to report internet fraud, but I don't remember it. My local police department gave it to me.
ALWAYS VERIFY THESE ITEMS BEFORE CASHING OR DEPOSITING THEM.

Why do you think they aretrying to scam you if they send you the money like they say, send them the dog...I think you should be able to get a profile on the person from their email address, if not contact yahoo customer service and see if they can get you the info you need

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful, i think this is a scam. It almost happened to me about a month ago, and most of these low lifes have yahoo emails!! Please dont do anything more with this, and maybe report them.

I would insist on finding out more info on the person. Could it be a puppy mill operator? Medical Lab? I would only accept a Certified check or money order if you are worried about the money.

it really sounds like the old nigerian scam...even if it isn't from nigeria, americans are picking up the scam as well.

Do not release the puppy until the check clears. Indicate that excess will be refunded once the check clears. Call yahoo. Call shipping agent. This all sound too good to be true. To much of a problem to not be a big scam.

Yes, I'd say it was a scam & you should contact your local
police or the county deputy. There are scams in the Internet
every day and my MSN Hotmail has the same thing with a PayPal
scam and the Nigerian bank fraud. I have forwarded these to
the FBI & the postal authorities. There was a good piece on ABC
about this, you need to be VERY careful who who deal with.

Definitely a scam--there is no reason for this runaround. Contact the authorities and Yahoo--maybe they can trace it. Nobody buying something should be asking for money.
