ASAP!!!Is it safe TO give physical address?

Dear computer gurus,

WHen you want to use specific provider of wireless network (perhaps business building or dormitory) Do u need to give them yours "physical address" ????
I thought only we can detect the wireless network and find passwords...
Or is this somehow they don't want other people to use it ...

the guy i know here tells me that he needs my physical address in order to send signal to my computer... i am so confused??

Is it safe to give physical address to somone? it looks like this

That's the MAC address. Some wireless systems can restrict which MAC addresses can connect to them. That's called MAC Address Filtering.

Shouldn't be a problem to give it to him.

Make sure the vendor is well known
Should not be an issue
