Using someone else address/tel no with out consent?

I have discovered my address/tel no is being used to advertise in phone book for a business, and basically implies that a business is being run from my home. This was done without my consent or knowledge. I know the person who has done it and they still havent told me what they have done. I like to know what I can do to prevent further use without my consent or any other words of wisdom people may have on the subject

Thanks I have already contacted the phone book about it, I cant do a lot about it because I didnt sign the contract. My father is the one thats placed the ad. I received a letter the other day it was open so I REad it , he has taken money for work and not showed up and they are considering legal action, he dosent know Ive read the letter I made out that I couldnt understand why the letter had come to me all he did was put the letter in his pocket. He Does not live here he has his own address

Contact the phone book, you can file a civil suit for an injunction or restraining order preventing that person from using your address and phone number, and may be able to collect damages, if you can somehow show you were harmed by this advertisement.

You may have been harmed if: People kept calling your house thinking it was a business, people came by your house looking for the business, this business somehow damaged your reputation or you have somehow acrued debt because this business used your address and phone number.

Ask who's done it why they did it without your consent

Immediately do to the FBI...identity fraud is a huge offense!!!

firstly contact the phone book people and ask them to remove the listing stating your circumstances
secondly, contact the person and if you are sure it is them that has done it, confront them, reminding them that to do what they have done constitutes an offence under the unsolicited goods and services act, and may also constitute harassment, then threaten to sue them!

It is Fraud you should contact the Better Business Buerau.

Gather all your evidence together, inform the person that you intend to take legal action.
Step 2: Take legal action and report this liar to the police, then sue him/her through the courts.

This is also a family issue apart from a legal issue. Why don't you just ask your father why he is doing so in case you don't already know it. And then persuade him not to do so if you don't want him to continue doing it.
