Website address in quotation marks - does the period go in the quotation marks too?

I'm writing a documentation for my business manual and need some help. Which of these would be correct, grammar wise:
A. Please visit, "www.yahoo.com."
B. Please visit, "www.yahoo.com".

I have read that in A, people might perceive the ending period to be a part of the web site address. But if we format it correctly (instead of the auto format), we can easily set it up so that the ending period is /not/ a part of the actual hyperlink. Opinions? If anyone knows of a definitive, legitimate website that discusses this (NOT wikipedia) I would great appreciate it. I need proof to show my boss. Thanks!

I usually cheat and reword the sentence so that the punctuation follows another word. If I must follow a web address with a period, I put a full space between the two: http://www.gutenberg.org/聽. I doubt if even the most nit-picking boss will be bothered by a space, and I think it helps the reader. I agree with another answer that quotation marks are not necessary.

My MLA Handbook does it this way [direct quote]:

Keats, John. Poetical Works [underlined]. 1884. Bartleby.com: Great Books Online [underlined]. Ed. Steven van Leeuwen. 2002. 5 May 2002 <>.http://www.bartleby.com/126/>.

The two titles are underlined, but Yahoo!Answers makes underlining very difficult.

whenever you have something with quotes always put the punctuation in the quotes but with websites there should be no quotes
