I recently started a massage business and will be working from home.?

Does anyone have this type of business or similiar? I'm trying to find out how you screen you're clients since they will be coming in my home. For a first appt is it out of line to ask to see some sort of id? Maybe Dvrs license or bill with their name and address on it?

Defiantly screen people on the phone. You might want to have someone else there. I'm not sure about asking for ID. When I have had a massage at someones home they never asked for one. However, they usually asked for payment up front.

The other concern is if you do out-calls. Make sure someone knows where you are and check in with them.

I would recommend working off a referral only basis. If someone you trust doesn't refer somebody they trust, then don't do business with them. Make it plain to anyone who calls that you do only a referral type business and if they havn't been referred then you will not take them as a client.

Personally do not think this is something I would care to do from my home, for if you have someone who is unpleasant to deal with whatever the circumstance they will already know too much of your personal business.....location, phone, etc.

Anyone could provide a fake on any of those items as well.
