How to find out location of e-mail address?

Hiya! My friend is on a roving business trip in the USA and the only way we keep in touch is by e-mail. I'd like to surprise her with flowers or chocs if i knew where she is exactly in the States. I read somewhere you can locate the exact address of a website. Can you do the same with an aol.com e-mail address? Any help v. appreciated. Thanks.J.

An AOL email user could be anywhere. Even if you get the IP address, you can only narrow it down to a general area. You have no choice but to think of some other excuse to ask her by email where she will be staying, and then if she wants to tell you then you can surprise her.

As far as I know, If an AOL user is using dial up, then you won't be able to locate her. I don't know much about AOL, If AOL has broadband and if she is using it, and (I don't know how without asking them) what their IP address is, you could find out what city she is in.

Well, it might be difficult to get answer to this question in forums like this. i can suggest you one thing. Google out with keywords and I can assure you, you will find plenty of websites which will give this information. Good luck.

there is no way for you to find a real world address of someone by their email address. unless they've posted it somwhere using that address, you wont get past the ISP that is used.

No you can't; if you could then famous people would never use the internet!
If someone wants to let you know where they are they'll tell you. For example she could tell you where she's staying over the next week.
So wait til you see your friend again and surprise her then.
