How can I find out more about my family Military history? |
I know that my Great Grandfather and my Grandfather both served in different branches of the Military (The Army & The Guard), and I also know that my Great Grandfather lost his leg as a result of a wound he received in World War 1, so that might be a Purple Heart. We are not very sure how to spell my Great Grandfathers first or last name as we don't have a lot of records or anything. Good Luck. There aren't any government sites that will let you discover military records without knowing service numbers or social security numbers. There are often dozens on men with the same name in the same service. The best bet is for you to try to do as thorough a genealogical search as you can and then expand that into military records. |
