Promoted but no salary increase? |
i came from a sister company as an office clerk and i was transferred to the mother as a branch accountant.before, the mother co. is only having a satellite ofc at my location and as they put it as a branch, they hired another employee.at that time,i was 2 & 1/2 yr on the sister co.when they transferred me to the mother, i was also appointed as dept head, but the other who has also the same position as me and was newly hired has bigger starting salary.to think that I am a senior employee and he is newly hired.my salary from where i came from to my new company is the same.my salary is the same as the lower level in our branch.i worked for almost 4 years now.2 & 1/2 yr from the previous and almost 1 & 1/2 yr on the present.the HR dept said that I am a lateral transfer, meaning my years of service is continuous and whatever benefits a senior employee will have be given to me.i ask the HR about this & she said that I have to talked w/ the manager so that he can make necessary recommendation. i haven't talk to the mngr yet because im afraid of his reaction.i have also consulted a friend from the other branch of our company and he said that the manager should do something about this from the start.my friend also commented that the manager is on the admin side, because he already knew this from the start.but to the fact that I am promoted,do I have the right to ask for an increase? YES, talk to him immediately to get it straightened out. It never hurts to communicate. It's better than letting things build up unsaid. If they know about it, and still won't do anything about it, you may have cause to be upset, but if they don't know what's going on, they probably won't be looking for it. Open communication is always important in a relationship, including a business one. |
