Career move choice into the legal field? limited work history on my resume currently?

currently work for citigroup in their financial services dept... i work in a branch that has sales goals/collections/etc

i just got my paralegal certificate and want to pursue a career in the legal field but i'm having a tough time finding a job... also alot of law firms are small so the benefits aren't good and u dont get vacation at first, etc.

i saw that there is a legal admin. assistant position open in citigroup in an office that is far away (so i'd have a longer commute or have to take the train)... i don't know if it'd be worth it

PROS- stay with same company (same benefits, vacation, 401k, etc), already have seniority, moving into the legal field

CONS- still won't be a paralegal even tho i just spent a ton of money to get my certificate, there is a long drive, do i want to learn all new policies and procedures? do i want to have to explain this to my boss? if i look at a company outside of citi my boss will never know if i applied or not

should i apply for it??

Perhaps you should hold out until the right paralegal job comes along. You can't expect a whole lot starting off in a new career; you're going to have to work your way up again. Not all companies give you vacation from the get go, but you need to look at the long-term benefits as opposed an immediate benefit you wish to receive. A lot of places give you vacation after six months, which is not a long time.

What do you mean by policies and procedures? Why did you take a paralegal course and not think that you would not have new challenges and new things to learn?

You have been given the skills (I hope) in paralegal school to meet these challenges. It'll take some work and you will have a learning curve, but you are embarking in a field with a lot of professional rewards and growth.

It's up to you. Professional and personal growth does not come easily.
