Did you see women in Iraq are commonly murdered for not covering their hair or wearing makeup?

As many as 133 women were killed in Basra last year -- 79 for violation of "Islamic teachings" and 47 for so-called honor killings, according to IRIN, the news branch of the U.N.'s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

My question: do we really need to liberate this country if this is their idea of freedom?

These events occur everywhere in the islamic world. The only force for modernization of the islamic world came from the Pan-Arab socialist leaders starting in the 1950's to today.
The USA oddly enough has worked hard to try and remove these people from power and install more radical fundamentalists mainly because they are more politically "pliable".

Pan-Arab Socialists - Saddam Hussein, Nasser, Sadat, Khadaffi, Assad, Mossadegh, Kassim.

The historical reasoning behind why the USA hated such secularist leaders was their support usually came from the Soviet Union. Now with the USSR gone, the USA now has to restort to lies about 'democratizing" the region in order to install USA-friendly regimes who are no more democratic than the old ones.

barbers were being threatened with death if they did not cut approved hairstyles (approved by the extremists freaks - have you seen their idea of hair and facial adornment?) and gel is not allowed to be worn in the hair.....

these 'men' are thugs and bullies, they fear change and worry that women might question their stone age ideals.....but the moderate men do not stand up to them so they get away with it

You do ask a good question. They seriously overestimated the factions' willingness to work with each other. Getting rid of Saddam was easy: making a new government is hard. Hell, ours was formed almost 220 years ago, and people still say it sucks.

We need to get out of there. There is no way to reform medieval gargoyles.

I have seen what you are talking about, and I am beginning to wonder along the same lines as you.
It makes you wonder what the Iraqi police are doing.
I seems they have their thumbs firmly placed in one part of their anatomy.

I used to care but now I think as long as we get access to their oil those superstitious inbreeders can go to Hell. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

The sad truth is that we're not liberating them from anything. They're just exchanging one set of tyrants for another set. They're not going to adopt a Western mindset. It will take generations to make any kind of positive change there because too many have been brainwashed with fundamentalist beliefs.

Of course, we have whack job fundamentalists here in the USA, too, but fortunately they're not a majority. If you want a good laugh, do a google search on "Rev." Fred Phelps, Sr. of Topeka, Kansas, one of the crazier fundamentalists in our own country. He and his family actually protest at military funerals and consider the war in Iraq to be God's punishment on the US for allowing gays in the military.
