What the life in Dubai for foreign women is like?

What the life in Dubai for foreign women is like?
I had a transfer offer from my boss to the branch office in Dubai. I am Japanese, and works for Japanese company (do office work).
I had never been to Middle East before, and I have NO idea what the life there is like. Especially for women, is it difficult? Or is it nice place to work also for women as many people say in this web?
If you are female, please tell me from your experience. If you are male, please tell me what you think with your point of view seeing foreign women around you.
I also have some worries like; can I make friends there? Do I need a car to live in Dubai? etc etc...

Dubai is great for women. it is one of the most free Arab countries. You will love it there. The shopping is amazing. There are many expats and tourists so you will find many friends. The people are very friendly. It is a wonderful country to live in with a lot to do & see. Take the job asap would be my advice.

I lived in Afghanistan and visited Dubai a lot. I kind of liked the Middle East. I actually found arab men very respectful to women. Some times you get stared at because you look different but no one does anything. I have run into some trouble with the third world nationals from places like India, Banglidesh and Pakistan but nothing too serious. I love Dubai and have thought about going to live there. As a woman you can't beat the shopping malls that's for sure. There are lots of good night clubs. Back in my single day I met lots of people at Rock Bottoms and at the Hard Rock Cafe. I would recommend having a car because there is a bus but the traffic is bad and it is insanely hot there. The are building a LRT but I don't think it will be finished for a couple of years. Cabs are pretty cheap but some times the cab drivers don't know where they are going. I think you should give it a try. It is a pretty advanced country with lots of people living there from all over the world.

Oh do go there! I've been there before and loved it...esp the shopping, the life..*sigh* I have a cousin and some girlfriends living in Dubai now. I'd move there tomorrow if I can. And yes, I think you do need a car to get around. Good luck and have fun!

First of all I am not a female. But I lived in Dubai for 5 years with my family. Dubai is a very different place to all other Middle-East countries. A person like you visiting from Japan will not see a major different.

Dubai is a very open country and a nice place to live. They have pubs, nightclubs, theme parks etc. Life is fantastic in Dubai. And it is also one of the safest places on earth. I am sure it will be very important for women like you.

You CAN make friends in Dubai. There are nightclubs specially popular among Japanese people. There are plenty of things to do in Dubai.

Having a car is not a must to live in Dubai. But it will help a lot. Buying a car is very easy. You can get a car loan very easily and with no or very minimal interest.

My personal opinion is to get the offer. You will never regret it. Visit my web site www.thatsdubai.com if you want to know more about life in Dubai.

You will love Dubai it is one of the world's best cities.

well I'm male and the strange thing is that , i see 1 Arab citizen every 12 person and this is true, mainly Dubai is for foreigners and everything there were made for them. you will enjoy night life and nice friends and don't worry of being in Arab country because you'll find them very nice to you and also very helpful.

and about making friendships just pick your style because everything is in the house good and bad crazy and smart,
about cars , sure you need a car and you have 2 options according to your visa if your visa is a working visa then you have to apply to car driving test and get a new license and if your visa is a tourist visa then your international driving license is OK

welcome to Dubai and enjoy your new life.
