A Question about Talent Agencies?

If an actor/dancer/performer is represented by a talent agency in NYC and then decide they want to move to the LA scene instead, can they just move to LA and stay represented by the same agency, in the LA branch office of course? Or do you have to stay in NYC until your contract expires? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most agencies in New York have connections in LA. If you do decide to move to New York, let your agent know! They may have an office located there or they can get you an agent in LA once you arrive. Agents are meant to help you! But don't worry, you can always keep your NY agent in case they find work for you there and you don't mind doing the trip. In some cases, if you land a great job, the agency will pay for your trip, although it's quite rare.

Most talent agencies don't require a certain amount of time for you to be with them, although you should read their contract carefully.

If your agency has a branch in LA, yes, you can continue to be represented by them.

I don't know too many agencies that have offices on both coasts...
Usually your covered in a metro area or state, and not the whole country.
If you move, your still under contract for your old area.

You have to start over in the new city and find a new agent.
