Care to comment on a poem?

There you go again,
Sipping saline out of a straw
Telling everyone
You can never go home again
There you again,
Injuring your baby
Swinging her all about
Biting skin off her back
There you go again,
With your branch office
Gang-raping boys and girls
From towns and farms so distant
There you go again,
Attaching what once was
A perfectly viable clause
To a radical new piece of paper

Yeah, it's my writing. And I don't think anything is wrong with me, it's the world around me that's disturbing.

Everyday that I read a paper I can find a news story like any of these stanzas up top.

Drug abuse, child abuse, corporate crime, political corruption. Open those minds up a little

Wonder what will they say 500 years from now?
About living in this day and age, using old writing style about now is these sububian world we live in nowadays.

Listen, this is great stuff. Poets have a way of making people think. A lot of people (probably like the ones who commented negatively) think poetry is about lost love and all that stuff. It's about expressing what you see and understand through artistic language. Bob Dylan is definitely a poet, and look at how biting his commentary is, "Masters of War" is a good example. The real trick is making your poetry to where everyone can relate to it.

I like it. To me its talking about all the fu**ed up stuff thats actually happening in our world todayso if you think its disturbing its because our world is disturbing.

I like this poem a lot, it's interesting containing suspense, holding your attention to the end. I especially liked the repetition of "there you go again," you can hear the speaker's voice, maybe her background is coming from a small town. It rhymes and flows well, making sense with good use of imagery. And it sounds like you have good insight and maturity into the subject, you are not struggling to write on current events you know nothing about. Overall, this is a poem that anyone can appreciate. I wish all poems posted on Yahoo were so intelligent, please keep posting. How about those cuddly cat poems so prominent in this section? Yours is 10x better than those. :-)
