Suggest a type of LAN architecture that is suitable for the company?

company has 1 head office n 3 branches

More details needed, how close are these branches togeather, who of importance are at each one. This isn't a LAN by the way either it would be a WAN, if different buildings of course, need more information. You also need to give details on what these users do in each office/branch and what permissions do they have. What do you need the server to do. Email me at omgzrhpdk@yahoo.com and i will help you out a little more. It looks like a couple servers could be set at the main office, one as a domain controller running a NOS, another maybe as a RAS server (remote access), and one as a share with a mass storage device(s). Give more info so you can be helped out a little more..

A VPN subnet. Company PCs are on the VPN. With User switching you could change to online, I sure wouldn't. I would keep the Company Boxes offline. Then you have some sense of security that you can guarantee your customers of.

Simple TCP/IP with four routers working on RIP will do. It's better if you have it like a star architecture where the links go from head office to each of the branches. For redundancy, you cna have links between each branch so that incase the main link fails, you will get redirected through the nearest branch link.

Would need a WHOLE lot more information.

1. How many nodes at each location?

2. What are the bandwidth requirements at each location?

3. What are the bandwidth requirements between locations?

4. What services are going to be provided at each location? And where are these services going to be provided from?

5. Is there a formal IT department? If so, what are the staff qualifications?

6. What are the security considerations?

The LAN architecture is the easy part, depending upon how many nodes you'll have at the various locations. Of much more importance will be the WAN architecture that interconnects the branches. Without a good handle on all of the considerations above (among others) it's not possible to make an intelligent recommendation.
