Federal Term Limits?

I think 12 years is enough in DC. That is holding any elected or appointed office in all three branches of government. Everyone agrees until it comes to THEIR politicians. I think term limits should be put to a public vote as the politicians will never impose limits on themselves. Once they get their straw in the honey bowl, they don't want to leave. Judges get senile and they too should be retired and I think 65 years of age should be their limit.

My question about the professional vs.schmuck thing was not intended to put down the military or insult the intelligence of anyone that has served in our armed forces. I apologize if you took it to be that way. The question was asked to bait another user on this site. Who, by the way, happens to be the exact person that I'm describing in the questions. No, I'm not a bottom feeder and I really don't even like John Kerry. So, I'm not sure where that came from. Mars probably. It's a shame that you don't appreciate my writing skills. I've been told that they are just fine after writing numerous thesis. Hummm....guess all my professors were lying. But, hey, what do they know, they only have a doctorate. Chow!

Term-limits limits choice. Imposing age restrictions is ageism. When the public doesn't want someone in, they will vote them out.

There are already term limits. It's called an election.

Term limits are NOT the answer. The problem is politicians that do not follow the Constitution. What we need is for the electorate (voters) to read and understand the Constitution, and to realize that government is our servant, not our master.

Then we need to elect politicians who will promise to repeal unconstitutional legislation, and abide by the Constitution. Finally, we need to put politicians in jail when they violate the Constitution, or the rights of the American people.

It all starts with us, the people. Until we understand the proper role of government (the protection of life an property), and understand how the Constitution limits what the politicians can do, nothing will change.
