Switching services?

is an office allowed to switch his/her branch of service? for example, if i were to do plc for the marine corps and recieve a pilot slot, would i be able to switch over to the airforce and be a pilot?

You can change service's, at the end of your enlistment, normally. But, just because you qualified as a pilot in the Marine Corps does not mean that you would qualify as a pilot in the Air Force. Other factors to consider, do you pass the enlistment criteria for the Air Force (Each service is different), does the Air Force have openings for pilots in your classification. What rank would you enter as (normally,if you change service's, you lose a ranking). The biggest item to find out, since you want to be a pilot, is staffing. If you qualify on, say a F-16 in the Marines, does the Air Force even need F-16 pilots, or would you be stuck behind a desk?
One question for you..If you want to be a Air Force pilot, why not just enlist in the Air Force first?

If you're thinking about being an Officer and not an office, you really need to work on your spelling. No excuses here cause there is a spell check button. And just what in the name of hades did you mean by "if I were to do pic..." Please work on your grammar before going to the recruiter. You will not like the answers you get.

I would imagine you would have to apply for a transfer, if they flew the same kind of aircraft, you are training on.

You need to speak to the AF and see if you can even cross over and fly. The AF is cutting way back, ie forced reductions, in the officer ranks so I would be very careful.

NO NO NO.

Marine Officers are in the Marines.

If Marine Officer received a pilot slot, it would be a Marine pilot slot, NOT an Air Force pilot slot.

There are no generic pilot slots.

Each branch has its own Pilot schools.

Now after you completed your service obligation to the Marines, you could ask for a commission in a different service.

I don't know why people get so tied up in switching service branchs, it just doesn't happen untill after your service commitment is over. Either for enlisted or officers.

Why would you want to switch branches? If you want to be a Marine, be a Marine, but if you want to be in the Air Force, then go for them.

When I was 'service shopping,' an Air Force recruiter told me something along the lines of 'it is hard to transfer to the Air Force from another service because we look at it with this perspective: you had your chance to join us and you didn't.' Now, I don't know if this is true, or if he was just trying to get me to enlist with him. Either way, stay with what you join- don't hop around.

No. All branches are independent of each other. Also, being a pilot requires A LOT of education are you sure you have what they are looking for?
