Why does the left bring up Cheney and Haliburton but not Gore and Generation Investment?

Al Gore maintains a he lives a "carbon neutral" lifestyle by buying "carbon offsets," but the company that receives Gore's payments for carbon offsets is partly owned and chaired by the former vice president himself.

His extra-large carbon offsets are paid through Generation Investment Management, a London-based company with offices in Washington, D.C., for which he serves as chairman. Make no mistake, this is NOT a non-profit. Generation Investment Management is set up to become a multi-billion dollar investment firm and is also set up to exclude the lower class.

Generation Investment Management's U.S. branch is headed by a former Gore staffer and fund-raiser, Peter S. Knight, Knight was the subject of several probes by the Federal Election Commission and the Department of Justice.

When Gore is buying carbon offsets through Generation Investment, he is in all actuality buying stock.

With proposed legislation for "Global Warming", it is related. It is still a conflict of interest yet many don't question it. I'm asking why nobody is questioning his motives for suggesting poor people use clothes lines instead of dryers while he uses and over abundance of energy and justifies it by paying himself.

Did you see all his minions answering my question ? I know that most were young kids. .. . especially the one who said 'I did'n't even 'know' about global warming until Al'. . . . . geesh .. ...Nobody 'knows' if mankind is responsible !!!

The carbon-investments. . . whooops !!.. . carbon-credits are a hoax worthy of P.T. Barnum's attention !!!!

You are comparing apples and oranges.

It has to be in a movie, if it's not, people won't know anything about it.

As a liberal, I will tell you Gore is quite a hypocrite when it comes to global warming.

His mansion uses 30x the amount of electricity a normal home does. His family made its fortune via minerals....that helped pollute the world.

He flies all around the world.....adding more excess co2 to the atmosphere. When he flew to Koyoto....his 2 planes used 450,000 gallons of fuel.

There is a difference. Cheney is currently in a position of power and influence. Gore is not and is not likely to be in a position of power and influence any time soon.

Let's assume you are correct. That the carbon offsets are bought from a company that's partially owned by Gore.

That means that Gore is legally allowed -- for himself and the companies he owns -- a certain amount of pollution. And collectively, he and his companies are all falling within that total.

What does that have to do with whether a current (as opposed to former) government official is doing? Or whether Halliburton is committing fraud?

And even if one company is doing something wrong, why is that an excuse for some other company to break different laws?

The issues are unrelated.

Because Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton and now is the US Vice President and Halliburton was found to have misspent billions of US Tax dollars, and was given no-bid contracts by this administration under Cheney's leadership that's why. That's cut and dry corruption.

Gore's situation doesn't even come close even a tiny bit, and, look at your accuasation. The Company was headed by a man who KNOWS gore and was "probed". Being probed is not a crime. Knowing someone who is a criminal is not a crime (as we know because Cheney's chief of staff is a convicted felon and bush's best buddy Ken Lay was convicted of several felonies.).

Hmmmm. let me think.. Can you say Halliburton = "War Profiteering"?

Good grief-where to start? Have you ever heard of tax credits? Wealthy people buy low income housing tax credits all the time. It's an investment and not stock at all. Simply Google "tax credits low income housing" Lots of other investments too-like energy. This is a little like buying a particular investment through your relative, who is a broker or using your own comapany even. Don't you think the CEO of Citigroup uses Citigroup for investments?

Buying credits for low income housing or energy or carbon credits or whatever is still investing in our future.

Who's Bill Hobbs? Anyway, it doesn't really matter.

Al Gore's not even an elected official anymore. Cheney is still in office, and currently using it's powers to line his own pockets. That's the difference.

You are comparing apples to oranges.
It costs more to run a carbon neutral company that an oil based company at this juncture.
They say that he is using much more in fuel because they are going by cost not actual fuel usage. The information was "guessed" at not actually obtained

Halliburton while under the auspices of Dick Cheney flauted sanctions that were in place against Iran and Iraq and did business with both countries.
Halliburton to this day STILL operates in Iran.
The company has overcharged the government close to $8 billion which they won't pay back
Halliburton has also done the following
Admitted bribing Kuwaiti officials
Admitted bribing Nigerian officials
The list goes on and on

You are right about the left. They indeed love to question things....They just can`t answer anything or anyone, including you.
