Should we amend the constitution so that a President has to appoint to the A.G.'s job a person from another |
political party so that the Executive branch never again abuses the power of their office by appointing someone from their own party who will play fast and loose with the words and intent of the constitution? Checks and balances. Not a bad idea, perhaps the AG should simply be an elected position, like President, so that person owes no loyalty to the President for his/her job. Or.....Whoever wins the election is President, whoever loses, is AG, and can't be fired by the President. no,,,no changes, just no more deceptions and lies...cool one///chow,,why don,t you get a 360 account so your friends can give you a high five >>freepress And that would only apply to when the republicans had control? Nope That's a terrible idea. No. A president is duly elected and has the right to appoint who he sees fit. And if some future AG didn't view things exactly the way you wanted them to.. would you then turn around and demand that they come from the same party as the president? Why not just skip the charade and demand that you name the AG.. or perhaps that you should just become the AG? No way there are a system of checks and balances in place which seems to work or why would the Democrats keep going after who ever is the Republican AG As a matter of fact, the Vice President was supposed to have this role, according to the constitution. The VP was the candidate to receive the second-highest number of votes. You mean so Billybob couldn't have appointed Godzilla Reno and maybe all those innocent kids in Waco would still be alive today? Anything to keep another Bush from appointing another Gonzo. |
