Lost the motivation to maintain his family?

My husband seems to be lost , and has lost his motivation to provide for his family. It's just him and I , but we also support his mother and father (they don't make enough to survive on).
He makes really good money, the past year has been very dark.. We have lost our home to forclosure, now living in our camper, (note he does not want me to work outside of the home, and makes enough I don't have to ). Have sold everything but the kitchen sink to stay a float the past year.
Now he is branching off and starting his own office, it is slow going , but he can't get out of bed to go to work. He knows that if we go down his mother goes down too...
I am so stressed and has put so much stress on our relationship I just don't know what to do.... I have no money to leave or no where to go if I did.... I don't want to leave..
How do I get him to understand and wake up to how bad it is getting ????

If its just you too, and times are really bad. You will need to get a Job regardless of what he says. No its not a time to leave him and just run, but you need to stand up. No he doesnt make enough for all, he is trying so hard and its just not working, You need to reasure him that he is still your MAN for his pride is whats been crushed!!!!!!!

Thats good to hear, sometimes when we come into hard times sticking together can be hard to do but we dont give much thought about what it will be like once we run. If you stick it out and work together, it will bring you closer together. Report It

Given that your husband used to make very good money, I think it is safe to assume that you don't have to get him to understand how bad it's getting -- he already knows. He's not stupid -- he's depressed! Lack of motivation, social isolation, and staying in bed too much are all signs of clinical depression. You would do well to get him to a doctor so he can get started on a treatment of antidepressant medication and/or psychotherapy. Please don't wait.

I am confused by this question. If your husband makes enough money that you don't have to work why are you selling things to make ends meet? It sounds like you need to work whether he want you to or not. He is not making good decisions right now so you must do it.

It sounds like your hubby is stressed out and may have depression. You need to get him to a doctor first. Next,you and your hubby need to face reality. If you can work, get at least a part time job to subsidize the income.

I do not know how spiritual you are, but having been delivered from clinical depression and anxiety disorder- Your Husband IS depressed. Please seek professional help maybe both a psychologist and phychiatrist. I will keep you and your family in my prayers....
