How do i fix an "al desko" culture?

At my work it seems that everyone has a quick lunch at their desk. I find i work better if i have a propper break for lunch, but i am worried they will take a dim view of this.

My workplace is small (only 7 of us) and we are a new branch of the organisation in a different city to head office, so i feel our office culture is new and maleable.

Any tips on how to turn it into a culture of taking a propper break and comming back to an efficent afternoon?

just for background: we are a medical research group, with 2 of us in the lab most of the time, one head scientist who is sometimes in the lab (but is one of the worst al-desck offenders), two management (one of which is very high-up in the organisation nationally), and two admin staff.

Too bad you are not in charge. If you where, you could make it mandatory that they could not eat at their desk. For one thing it is a health risk. Keyboards have too many germs. Since you have some high powered people you probably cannot get them to change. I just put in a flat screen TV and and DTV in our lunch room with a DVD player. We also put a puzzle out there and they are trying to put it together
