I work for a small steel company and by bosses are married to each other.? |
The admin manager is very moody and married to the general manager - they are the only two managers at this branch and we work in a small open plan office-both of them within 2 metres of me. for the first year everything was fine, but now 4 years on they are a complete nightmare. there seems to be no chain of command, no confidentiality and if i ask a question she snaps at me and gives me the most evil looks! she tries to pick fault in everything i do and crtitisises anything i do well. some days she walks in & starts looking for mistakes to pick me up on. i know i am good at my job which is the most frustrating thing. the general manager sits back and does nothing about it. 2 months back i ended up walking out after a heated argument when they both ganged up on me about a mistake (not mine). they asked me to go back -which i did (to get my bonus) and im now looking for work. she hardley talks to me now, how will i get a good reference when they make it clear they both hate me? Indeed, no man (or woman !) can serve two masters - especially when they are married to each other ! The problem is not with you but with your boss, my wife and I work in the same company. I am the president and she is the chief financal official. If she is mad, then my day will be bad. My nerve system will get very excited and temper will go up. The way I express my anger toward my wife is expressing toward the employee, I know this is not fair, but I am a regular human being, so my advise is not to work for a husband and wife team. You are just unlucky to be caught between them. Good luck to you. Well, you may not get a good reference, but they can't really give you a bad one. Legally (from an HR perspective) if a potential employer called your former or current employer they can not make derogatory comments about you. However, if they have factual evidence, such as attendance records, written signed disciplinary actions etc you can not stop them from telling the truth. On a positive note, if they are unhappy with you they most likely would want to give at least a neutral reference so you get another job. Do you really need them as your reference? I would rather put someone who knows me well enough and long enough as reference. Good luck my friend! This is a common problem when the married boss is working in the same office. I can understand your working environment, its terrible! |

This guy is scaring a lot of people, including me. He has been slowly culminating power behind close doors until he basically is on par with the president himself. He has taken a mostly figurehead ... Seeing as how your organization just merged with another organization, I'd say play it safe (depending on how badly you need this job). Remember, if what you're saying can be misconstrued... Sure, you can always write someone a letter complimenting them on good work or service. ...HMMM good question. Can you e-mail the FDIC or do they have a contact number. That is where I would turn next. ...Heard another version of the same joke. It's ok... ...2) the executive, the judicial, and legislative 6) Senate 6 years, and congress 2 yers ...They are the owner/landlord and can request anything they want! You can supply them with some or all that you want! BUT they might not rent to you if you don't supply the required informatio... Absolutely. As commander in chief, he ought to have some experience if he is going to make decisions affecting the lives of our men and women in uniform. We lost in Viet Nam in large measure be... |
