What will i do to a chain smoker colleague?

I am working in a company where there are a lot of people who smokes, especially the one inside our office aside from my boss smokes at least 11 times a day and i am having an asthma attack and sinusitis. My boss once talked to him to never smoke inside the office, but it seems like he just ignores it. Our office doesn;t have any enough ventilation as in windows to allow the smoke go off.

Is there any branch or hotline of the government that i can write to regarding health matters? i'm afraid that i might loose my lungs before end of the year. It seems like he really does it on purpose coz he knows i'm allergic to it.

If you are in a "clean indoor air" state, you should be able to contact a local environmental agency or OSHA. You have a proven carcinogen in your workplace that is unnecessary. I would document every day that you are exposed to second hand smoke and what you have done/said to have it stop. If you get sick and it's proven to be related to that, you will have a valid case against the company and the boss.

In my case, I just make snide remarks everytime I have to smell that crap - especially if they walk in MY office with it.

Of course, you COULD spray them with a fire extinguisher and say you saw smoke and assumed they were on fire.

If you are in the UK it's all now smoke free in enclosed places apart from England which happens to be doing so on 1st July,
I have just stopped smoking six weeks ago and wish i had done it years ago as it really is not that hard to stop, so try to tell him this also think cash not ash, i have taken out a bank loan because i have stopped and now i have another car a new mobile phone and a brand new computer all through positive thinking. anyway back to you yes i would write to your local government about this or even your own Dr may be able to help or point you in the right direction, good luck to you

I would change jobs as soon as possible. If they wanted you around they would have made the smoker go outside to smoke.

find a different job
