Has the security of my new debit card been compromised?

Signed up for a new checking acct couple of weeks ago.Checks show up 6 days,good.Debit card supposed to be next,13 days no card no PIN.Call from bank,"Oh,they sent your new card to our office in Ocheechobee,Fl.""but Idon't know why"She said."They sent it to this branch where you signed up at by mail.Don't worry if they sent your PIN to 0cheechobee,you can change it here when you come by and pick up your card".My question:I really just wanted the card sent STRAIGHT to me,with a PIN sent STRAIGHT to me a couple days later in a sealed envelope.Now if Iwalk into that bank and the card is out of it's envelope,I would feel violated,like someone read my mail,I just don't want to get a card several people had access to it who are not my usual "vendors".Someone could stick me good with a purchase later on,When I am not paying attention and fail to protest the purchase in a timely manner.Could the bank be crooked?Should I refuse the new card,which is about the last item I want lost in the mail

Get the new card then change PIN when you want to. The card can be checked for violations of debt whenever you feel like you need to. You can also just ask them to send you a new unopened card for which you will have to go to the bank and get assigned a PIN.

is this ur first debit card? my buddy had a deal like that where instead of signing up for it there, he mailed it in and all, and they sent it into the bank..they kept the pin/card in separate envelopes until he came and got them...i believe u can have them mailied from the bank to you. btw what bank is this?

Until your PIN number has been activated......you really don't have anything to worry about. Go to the bank branch to get your card and at that time tell them that you want to change the PIN number.

If your still concerned.....monitor your first couple of monthly statements closely and immediately contact your bank of any problems.

But seriously.....no problem till the PIN is active.

In area's in the US where you half to have a post office box because there is no mail delivery. Even through you still have a street address. They will send it to the branch you signed up at for your security. Only certain people at the branch will be allowed to see the card. Mainly customer service. You should still get the pin by mail. They may not be even allowed to open it.
