Who owns the U.S. Postal Service?

I have had some problems with a supervisor at the local post office and would like to file a complaint. I have sent one through the website, but have not received an acknowledgment of them having gotten the complaint. If they do nothing about this, I want to know who owns the U.S. Postal Service. I'm sure there is an office somewhere that all of the various branches have to report to and I want to know their name and contact information.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe, the U.S. Postal Service is NOT a governmental agency any longer. Ask your postmaster. It is now privately owned.

the US government owns the US Postal Service

the government.

THE GOVERNMENT!

No one owns it.. it's a goverenment agency... send a letter of complaint to the Postmaster at the main post office inyour area.

U.S postal get it united states

derrr

the goverment

it is operated by the US government. if you have a problem you need to contact the Postal Inspector General. he will help you.

Send to: Postmaster General
YOUR POST OFFICE MAIN ADDRESS
YOUR TOWN, YOUR STATE YOUR ZIP
(very important)

SEND IT CERTIFIED!!!!!!! Return receipt requested!

Maybe you could contact your congressman. The post office is a government agency with government employees.

This reminds me of a bad joke, "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

*chuckles* bad service from a governmental department.
Imagine that!

It's hard to believe that people don't know that the United States Postal Service is run by the government. Stop worrying about a stupid mail complaint and look at our government's real problems.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is an "independent establishment of the executive branch" of the United States Government (see 39 U.S.C. 搂 201) responsible for providing postal service in the United States. Within the United States, it is generally referred to as "the post office."

The USPS is often mistaken for a government-owned corporation (e.g. Amtrak), but as noted above is legally defined as an "independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States,"[cite this quote] as it is wholly owned by the government and controlled by the Presidential appointees and the Postmaster General. As a quasi-governmental agency, it has many special privileges, including sovereign immunity, eminent domain powers, powers to negotiate postal treaties with foreign nations, and an exclusive legal right to deliver first-class and third-class mail

The USPS is NOT privately owned. The USPS is a quasi independent agancy functioning under the perameters defined in the US Constitution, Private Express Statute etc.
Your email was recived but in all likelihood will be responded to in wrting as soon as practical. Why USPS.com does not send out email acknowledgments is beyond my comprehension.
