Is US Bank always late with their bill pay?

I recently opened a checking and savings at US Bank. I enrolled in their online bill pay to pay all my bills automatically. All the bills that get paid electronically are paid on time however all the bills that get paid via the post office are always 3-4 days late. I know I am not entering the dates wrong as the electronic or ach transfers always post the day they are due. However the bills that cannot be paid via ach, are late.

I switched to US Bank from Bank of America. Bank of America never once was late on any of my bills. I went to the local branch in which they really didnt help. They suggested I just change the due dates 3-4 days earlier. I guess I could just mail the bills myself but I figure that this is a free service they provide and the postage I would save would add up over time.

Have you had the same problems with US Bank and what did you do to fix it? US Bank has been good about paying any late charges that have incurred as a result though.

One more detail...

US Bank automatically mails these payments to arrive by the due date. I just enter what date the bill is due by and they guarantee it will arrive by that day. I do not know when the payment is mailed, they are supposed to know how long it takes to get there.

I notice that US Bank doesnt have as many bills in their bill pay that transfer electronically. Bank of America had an awesome bill pay but their nearest branch was 40 minutes away. US Bank has branches almost everywhere which is very convenient.

It's not necessarily that the payment is getting there late, most companies take anywhere from 3-7 business days to post a payment to your account once they receive it. It's probably getting there on time but just sitting in their mail room until someone gets around to processing it.
You should keep that processing time in mind when scheduling your payments.

That is an interesting problem, and I don't know enough about your circumstances to give you precise details. I think the easiest answer would be to go with the banks advice and just enter in the dates 4 days earlier. That wouldn't really be much of an inconvenience.

I've never had that problem. My bank says that direct withdrawal payments need to be scheduled 2 business days before they're due and those going by post office (very rarely) need to be scheduled 7 business days before due date.

The case you narrated is very unusual.I don't think all Banks are always late with their bill pay. It's very rare case.
